Unlikely Duo Apple and Google Collaborate with Walt Disney

Walt Disney Co. has done the impossible; the company has somehow managed to get Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) to get along with each other and collaborate on a new project together. This initiative will allow both the Android and iOS users to stream and watch the movies produced by The Walt   Disney Company – Google and Apple collaboration is something extremely rare considering the rivalry between the two tech giants. These movies also include movies by Marvel and Pixar as they are also owned by The Walt   Disney Company.

The Walt Disney will benefit from the partnership; the company wants to induct advance technologies in its systems to appeal to a wider range of audiences. This move will allow Walt Disney to expand itself on Android, which features Google Play and iOS services because this makes the movies so much more accessible than before – it gives a wider range of audience to the company. This is definitely a very smart move by Disney as this would allow the company to generate much larger revenue from both Google Inc and Apple Inc. because both these parties have agreed to pay Disney an equal amount irrespective of which platform the subscribers use to watch a movie.

This is amazing news for Android users everywhere because previously Disney movies could only be accessed by Apple device owners. Once subscribed to this app, people can buy and also access the previously bought movies on the iTunes from either an Apple device or any Android device. Although the process may seem a little intricate at first glance it is indeed quite simple. All a person has to do is to download the Disney Movies Anywhere App and get it connected to one’s Google account. Any material that is bought afterwards will then be in sync with all the three platforms i.e. the iTunes store, the Disney Movies Anywhere app and the Google Play App.

This is smart business on part of all the three companies because it will allow for all of them to generate more profit. They have targeted consumers and have brought all of them together into one place.

This was not the first attempt to form such an alliance; this joint venture was previously proposed to Apple by Sony pictures Warner Bros, which Apple clearly refused. Apple now intends to capture huge market shares with this deal with Google.

Although Apple’s share are facing a decline in the market but it still controls 61 % of all online movie sales according to research conducted by IHS. Apple’s main target market in this deal is younger generation mostly – those who are loyal fans of Walt Disney movies. Until now you needed to have an Apple device to use Disney services, which now will work on Android too. For Disney the partnership puts its films on the most widely used operating systems in the World. As 80% of the mobile market consists of Android based phones, it makes a great deal for Disney that will have access to nearly all phones sold in US.
