Google distributes huge executive bonuses

Life as a Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) executive isn’t just good; it’s great! Recently, Google revealed that it will pay its Finance Chief, Patrick Pichette a $3 million bonus. Additionally, it is paying its Chief Business Officer, Nikesh Arora, a $3.5 million bonus. These are both increases from 2013 where Google’s stock rose by 60%.

Last year, both Pichette and Arora received a $2.8 million bonus. On the other hand, Google Chief Executive Larry Page and co-founder Sergey Brin did not receive any bonuses. Furthermore, they only receive a $1 salary as they hold stocks that make up most of their wealth. Don’t shed any salty tears for them though. At only 40, Larry Page has a net worth of $32.3 billion. He is listed as 17 on Forbes’ “World’s 15 Richest Techies of 2014.” Not to mention, Sergey Brin has a net worth of $16.7 billion.

GoogleIn 2013, Google shares broke the $1,000 mark for the first time. It outpaced the NASDAQ’s 38% gain for the entire year. Other bonuses were given to Google Chief Legal Officer and head of Corporate Development, David Drummond, who will receive $3 million. Last year, Drummond received $3.3 million.

Google’s Executive Chairman, Eric Schmidt, will receive a $6 million discretionary cash bonus as well as $100 million in restricted stock units. Schmidt is worth $8.3 billion, and he recently purchased a $22 million dollar house near Hugh Hefner’s Playboy mansion.

Google’s continuing commitment to innovation and information make it one of the world’s most valuable companies. Its meteoric rise has kept heads spinning for years. Moreover, the power and sway it has over the tech industry, as well as the world will probably play in its favor for years to come.
