Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) Helps AT&T Hit Record Sales

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone is responsible for AT&T’s record breaking 10 million smartphones sold in the forth quarter according to Apple Insider.

Apple iPhoneGene Munster of Piper Jaffray estimates that 8.1 million of the 10 million smartphones sold by AT&T were iPhones. AT&T’s previous best quarter record was 9.4 million smartphones sold in 2011 of which 7.6 million were iPhones. Munster’s total estimate of iPhone sales for Apple’s December quarter 2012 is 45 million.

While these numbers are impressive Gene Munster would still like to see Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) accelerate their product release cycle. There has been talk about Apple releasing products in 6 month cycles to compete with Android.

Whether or not Apple (AAPL) ups it’s product release cycle remains to be seen but it’s almost certain investors would welcome this. Apple stock has been a roller coaster ride the last 3 months which some speculate is due to manipulation among other things. More frequent product releases could give AAPL the boost its share holders are looking for.
