Google had recently announced its latest Android 5.0 Lollipop update and it was massively launched soon after the announcement. However, almost immediately after the launch some users started noticing problems with their text messages. According to some users there is a problem with Google Inc.’s (NASDAQ:GOOG) new Android 5.0 Lollipop update that prevents them from sending text messages. It shows the message as sent but the receiver doesn’t get it.
Similar complaints were seen on Google’s official forum, which is made for keeping track of bugs in Android through Phone Arena. According to a post on the forum that was made on November 16th, only certain versions of Nexus 5 are getting affected by this bug. The rest of the Android phones did not seem to have an issue with the update.
The latest post on the forum was made on 19th November, which suggested that the problem is still there for some if not all Android users.
Customers that own and use Nexus 5 with international carriers like Vodaphone and Mobistar face this issue with their text messages. However, there was one customer who claimed to have the same issue with Motorola’s new Moto X.
The issue with Android’s 5.0 Lollipop update was reported just a few days after the customers reported another issue with the operating system. According to that issue the Android 5.0 Lollipop prevented the phone to connect with Wi-Fi. Some users said that the phone would save the password but would still fail to connect with the Wi-Fi. Before this users complained of 5.0 Lollipop draining the phone battery too quickly. However Google worked on this issue and resolved it fairly quickly.
Google is a huge company and it keeps coming up with new technology and innovative ideas. Google Inc.’s (NASDAQ:GOOGL) line of Android phones and related updates has a massive market of users and Google tries its best to meet the expectations of its customers. However not everyone can be perfect! Issues with Android’s 5.0 Lollipop are certainly a source of worry for Google. There has been no word from Google on the issue of text message yet but it can be assumed that the company is working on it and will definitely have something to say on the subject sooner or later.
The new Android 5.0 Lollipop has not been launched for all the Android phones yet therefore it cannot be determined if all the phones will face the same problem or not. There is a possibility that the problem is specifically effective on certain versions of Lollipop on Nexus 5 that may not be completely up to date. However the company would have liked to have a huge and successful launch instead the bugs are piling up and one issue is surfacing after the other.
This has become some sort of a trend; first it was Apple’s iOS that kept showing bugs and now Lollipop. Whatever the cause of the problem may be, it is a source of frustration for Lollipop users who had been anxiously waiting for the update.
