Astoria Federal, is offering 0.05% APY on high-interest online savings account with $500 opening balance requirement. The bank charges $500 to avoid any other fee and $5 monthly fee for account maintenance.

You can access your account from anywhere around the world through free online banking and telephone banking services. The bank also provides a free ATM card for cash withdrawals. The interest is compounded on a daily basis and credited to the account every quarter in case of a passbook account. If you hold a statement account, the interest will be credited every month to your account.
