Astoria Federal Savings, is offering 0.05% APY on its savings account. You need to deposit a minimum opening balance of $500 and maintain at least $500 of balance in your account to avoid penalty and other fees. The bank charges $5 fees for account maintenance on a monthly basis.

The bank does not provide check writing services with this account. However, you can open a checking account for this purpose. There are two types of savings accounts available at the bank – Passbook Savings and Statement Savings. The latter offers online banking services.
