Twitter and Vine: Coming to a theater near you

If you want to keep track of the latest news and updates, all you have to do is take a look at Twitter’s trending topics any time of day. They change every several hours, or every hour and take you to a global community sharing their thoughts on one or multiple items. Twitter Inc. (NYSE:TWTR) is so crucial for news promotion that National CineMedia has recently signed a deal to bring entertainment-related tweets and vine videos to movie screens across the country.

It is worth noting that the majority of movie-goers check their phones before, after and during a theater outing. Why not place their interests right on the main screen, so that they become more engaged? The feature is set to begin this coming summer. Any theater affiliated with National CineMedia will start airing 1-minute weekly shows that emphasize trending movie and entertainment themes.

Cliff Marks, president of sales and marketing with NCM Media Networks, talked about the partnership.

“We’re looking for an innovative brand that wants to become part of the movie experience in a valuable way by joining in, and even leading, the social media conversation. Twitter has become an amazing barometer of movie trends, and this new show will take theater audiences beyond the red-carpet for an original look inside the world of movies.”

Twitter has an uncanny knack for making predictions, even when it isn’t trying to make them. The relationship with Twitter and the media is strong, and it is expected to become even more substantial. It may even inspire more tweets when movie-goers realize their tweets can be seen on movie screens throughout America. Given the news regarding the end of the stock market Twitter honeymoon, this deal is sure to be a welcome diversion.
