Diane Von Furstenberg designs frames for Google Glass

Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) Glass is bringing the class with new frames. Diane Von Furstenberg has designed new frames that can be used with the powerful and high-tech piece that puts a computer right in front of your eyes. The limited edition frames are sleek, attractive and very lightweight.

For those not familiar with Google Glass, it is basically a wearable mobile device. Glass is fitted with optical head-mounted display that puts the information right in the glasses. The display is very similar to a smartphone display, but is completely hands free. You can use it to film video, take photos and play with apps designed specifically for Google Glass. In fact, hundreds of developers are already working on continually updating the Google Glass apps list.

Diane Von FurstenbergGoogle Glass became available to the public just weeks ago with prices starting at $1500. Glass was previously only available to users in Beta testing by invitation only from Google.

The Diane Von Furstenberg frames are a significant improvement on the first version frames. While nothing can minimize or eliminate the very obvious metal device attached to the frame and lenses, the DVF frames work with the devices to offer a wider variety of shape and color choices to Glass users. Google doesn’t just want to work with the techies. They want everyone using Google Glass.

With the addition of the DVF line to its frames, Google continues to try to improve the appearance of Glass so that users can focus on the utility of the product. Until now, users seem to be largely hung up on the way the devices looks when worn in public and continued partnerships, development and frame varieties will help to make this great product more palatable to the masses.

To date, very few people have even had the chance to even try Glass and much of this revolves around the appearance and reviews from testers. With a bit more development and marketing, Glass has a huge opportunity to fill a hands- free need to get information quickly and right before consumer’s eyes.
