China Gives Google Inc.’s Fitness App the Highest Rank 

Google has been dominating the online world for a while now and the company keeps bringing more to its portfolio quite regularly. Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) search engine is by far the most popular search engine online but that is just one feature, the company has a lot of other apps and features to its credit as well. Android is a mobile operating system which is developed by Google and Google play keeps publishing new apps for Androids from time to time. Google Play store has published over I million Android apps so far and the number keeps on increasing. Android is one of the most popular Smartphone operating systems in the tech market and its apps are highly popular amongst its users.

In June Google disclosed its “Google Fit Platform”, which is a software that joins apps that are compatible with Android Wear Devices. This connection enables users to keep track of their activities and fitness data.

Just last month Google had launched a new fitness app. The app not only monitors activity but also connects to health monitoring devices and keeps the users well informed about their health concerns. This app when launched was on number 24 in China as per the Android charts but has gradually reached the top ranks in China now, making China the most promising market for this app. This app is very convenient and handy for health conscious people. China is a huge country with the largest population in the world and therefore companies like Google and Apple always keep their focus on China and see it as their strongest target market.

Google Fit

Ironically China does not support Google Inc.’s search services and the company does not even operate its own app. download store in the country yet the Google Fit app is extremely popular there. The market in China for this particular app has even left behind countries like U.S, U.K and Japan where Google fit is ranking at the positions of 69, 38 and 272 respectively. A Singapore based spokesman for Mountain View, which is an internet company based in California, Robin Moroney confirmed that Google does not operate its own application download store in China and Android apps are distributed there with the help of 3rd parties, however, he did not comment on why the Google Fit app is so successful in China.

According to Kantar World Panel ComTech Data in the 3rd quarter Android had 83.4% of the China Smartphone market exceeding the iOS, which had 15.2%. This data shows that Google or Android is more popular in China than Apple for now. Whether Google will be able to maintain its position in China or not and whether the new fitness app by Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) will retain its ranking in China or not is something that only time will tell. The competition in the technological world is ongoing due to the ever changing market and big companies like Google and Apple are the biggest competitors, which is why these companies have to keep evolving and offering services that are top of the line and unique in their field.
