AT&T Pricing Gets More Competitive with ‘Next 24’

AT&T (NYSE:T) continues to ramp up its competitive pricing models ahead of the holiday season.

During the AT&T Consumer Industry Analyst Conference, the wireless carrier unveiled “Next 24,” a measure that spreads the number of installments for a new smartphone over a course of 30 months. This move would benefit consumers as it lowers the amount due every month.

Under this brand new program, customers can trade in their used smartphone after making 24 payments and upgrade to a brand new device – the caveat is that the mobile device must be in good condition. Subscribers can pay off the remaining sum of their current smartphone and keep it.

Next 24 will be available in the United States beginning Nov. 9 and will sit next to Next 12 (12 months of payments) and Next 18 (18 months of payments). The option will be available for any smartphone offered by the wireless carrier. Installments can start from $10 per month to as high $50. Furthermore, customers can receive discounts when they sign up for certain contracts.

“With a variety of payment options, they can choose the device and plan that fits their budget,” said David Christopher, AT&T chief marketing officer, in a statement. “AT&T Next gives customers flexible pricing options at an incredible value on a reliable network that keeps them connected.”

In addition, in an attempt to entice new customers, AT&T will offer a $150 bill credit after 45 days if a subscriber transfers over their number to AT&T and opt for a Next tier plan. Of course, you’ll have to pay your bills on time and remain in good standing during this period.

AT&T (NYSE:T) is currently facing a lawsuit from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) over allegations that the company had participated in “data throttling.” The carrier was accused of offering customers unlimited data but would reduce Internet speeds at peak periods. Last month, AT&T also agreed to pay a $105 million settlement for illegal charging customers for unauthorized ringtones and other services.
